Poinciana is one of Orlando's fascinating communities. It's located in Osceola and Polk counties. Almost half of the community is made up of gorgeous lakes and a wooded conservation area including Reedy Creek Nature Preserve, horseback riding trails and two nature trails in the Snell Creek and Huckleberry Island conservation areas. There are also several parks in the area, including the Vance Harmon Park, the largest of Poinciana's parks. Harmon Park has soccer fields, a football field, a softball/Little League baseball diamond, lighted tennis, basketball and racquetball courts, a playground, a fitness trail and an all-weather pavilion that's great for barbecues, family reunions and other parties. There are several schools in the area: Deerwood and Reedy Creek Elementary schools, Horizon Middle School, Poinciana High School and New Dimension High School (Osceola County's first Charter School). Poinciana's Avatar Neighborhoods are excellent for families. It's a private community with 3-, 4-, and 5-bedroom homes. Homes are spacious with big backyards for lots of play room for the little ones. It's just a short drive away from the area's schools, and there's excellent golf, tennis, shopping, dining and much more nearby.

For some place that's great for seniors, head to Solivita, a gated 55+ community with a Mediterranean-style Village Center. It's home to the semi-private Stonegate Golf Club, a spectacular golf course designed by Ron Garl. There's certainly no lack of things to do there, including walking, jogging, bicycling and boating. There's a 5-mile footpath and the Oak Crest Waterway to explore.

Orlando is a rapidly growing city. New jobs are constantly being created. Orlando's communities provide an excellent balance of small town sensibility and city life.
